Paraty is a year-round destination, but the seasons feel genuinely different. Here's how to pick your window — for weather, for water, for crowds, and for price.
Summer is hot, lively, and wet; winter is dry, calm, and quiet. The shoulder months split the difference. Match the season to what you want most — beach heat, clear water, empty trails, or a festival — and you'll get it right.
High season. Days are hot and humid (often 30 °C+) with warm sea and frequent afternoon downpours that usually clear. This is peak Brazilian holiday time: the town is at its liveliest, prices at their highest, and Carnival lands in February or March. Book well ahead. Great if you love heat, energy, and long beach days; less so if you want quiet.

One of the sweet spots. The summer crowds thin, the heat eases to warm and pleasant, and while there's still some rain, you get long stretches of fine weather at lower prices. The Festa do Divino (around May–June) adds culture without Carnival-scale crowds. Excellent for a balanced trip.
The dry season and, for many, the best time to visit. Days are mild and sunny (low-to-mid 20s °C), nights cooler, rain scarce, and the sea at its calmest and clearest — ideal for boat trips, snorkelling, and hiking. Crowds are low except for the July school holidays and FLIP week. Pack a light layer for evenings.
The other sweet spot. The landscape greens up, temperatures climb back toward beach weather, and crowds stay modest before the summer rush. Rain increases toward November. A lovely, good-value window with festivals like Paraty em Foco in the mix.
