A former fishing village turned barefoot beach town, half an hour south of Paraty — home to some of the coast's best sand and a natural swimming pool carved from the rocks.
Trindade sits on a pocket of coast where the mountains crowd the sea. It's rougher around the edges than Paraty's colonial center — more surfboards than cobblestones — and that's exactly the point. Come for the day, or come for a slow one.
Trindade lines up several beaches in a short stretch. Praia dos Ranchos is the village beach, where the boats and the kiosks are. Praia do Meio and Praia Brava pull the surfers with stronger waves. At the far end, a forest path leads to Praia do Cachadaço and the star attraction: the Piscina Natural, a calm, clear pool rimmed by boulders where you can snorkel among the fish in waist-deep water.

The natural pool at Cachadaço is Trindade's postcard. Reached by a short, easy trail from Praia do Cachadaço, it's a rock-enclosed lagoon where the sea filters in gently and the water turns glassy and green. Bring a mask — the fish are used to visitors — and arrive earlier in the day, before the tour groups, to have it closer to yourself. Wear shoes that grip; the rocks are slippery.
Trindade is about 25–30 km south of Paraty, roughly a 40-minute drive, the last stretch a steep, winding descent into the village. You can drive (parking fills on summer weekends), take a local van/kombi that runs from Paraty's center, or grab a taxi. From Cantinho do Marinheiro, it's an easy morning out — ask Bianca about the current van schedule or a taxi.
Plan a full, unhurried day: beach in the morning, the natural pool before lunch, fried fish and a cold drink at a Ranchos kiosk in the afternoon. If the surf's up at Praia Brava, watch it from the sand. Trindade rewards slowness — don't try to pair it with anything else on the same day.
